![]() This is tremendously useful on occasions when we do not need to translate the entire page because either we already master the language and we miss a word or phrase or because we are simply learning that language. Where the application draws our attention the most is the possibility of translating a single word or certain selection of text on a web page. Although if we take into account that since macOS Big Sur we already have a native translator in Safari, the truth is that Mate Translate goes to the background in this sense. Obviously the translation of Safari web pages is one of the most prominent and it works very well. As far as possible, we are fortunate that if you buy it on iPhone you will have it on iPad and vice versa, but it would be tremendously positive if the developer allowed a single payment to be made for having the application available on all computers.Īnalyzing now the application as such and its operation, it must be said that it is an all-terrain tool because it is functional in many places in the system. It has a price in these systems of 16.99 euros. Of course, we find a clear disadvantage in this regard and that is that you will have to pay it again even if you have bought it on the Mac before and vice versa. However, we believe that this is worth mentioning and that is that you can also download it on your iPhone or iPad having functionalities adapted to their operating systems. Perhaps this section would be worthy of analysis in a different article, since we are focusing on Mate Translate for Mac. Didn’t try other languages to see if that was consistent across other languages. There is also a version on iOS and iPadOS On the first try, the audio stayed with the English, then when I copied and pasted I got the ‘British’ male speaking Maori with a a ‘British’ accent. I had to copy the Maori, switch the languages around to get Maori as the language to be translated into English. When I switched the langague (what gets translated) I at first got English twice. ![]() I had English wanting to hear it in Maori, so the English was showing on top. I would also be nice to have an audio of both phrases versus just the audio of the phrase showing up on the top row. Yes, that would be a lot of work to add in, but for those of us learning languages, it would be nice to hear a more authentic accent. it would be nice to have a native speaker say the phrase of the language? I tried Maori and it was a man with a notable ‘British’ accent, the same speaker and accent used for the English phrase while I was trying to figure out how to get the app to say the Maori phrase. Ok, I haven’t had this app very long and it looks pretty decent in what I’ve tried to use it for. How about native speakers saying the phrase?
